Red Giant Universe expands with upgrades

Red Giant has launched Red Giant Universe 2.0, an update to the company’s GPU-accelerated plugins for editors and motion graphics artists. It packs more than 60 tools that run in Apple Final Cut Pro X, Apple Motion, Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, HitFilm and Sony Vegas.

UCedge Softphone brings unified communications, mobility to OS X

Toshiba America Information Systems’ Telecommunication Systems Division has announced the availability of its new built-in softphone as part of an update to its UCedge client software available for Mac OS X.

Toshiba's UCedge softphone gives Mac users the ability to use their devices as extensions on their VIPedge, IPedge or Hybrid Cloud business communications solution. Using the softphone enhances the UC benefits, including presence and instant messaging with both internal and external organizations, said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba’sTelecommunication Systems Division.

UCedge is compatible with Toshiba's VIPedge cloud-based business telephone solution, IPedge on-site Unified Communications system, and Strata CIX systems with an IPedge Application Server, as well as Toshiba's Hybrid Cloud solution.

Flexera Software (www.flexerasoftware.com) has updated AdminStudio Suite, a unified application readiness solution for packaging, virtualisation and management, adding Mac support along with that for Windows and mobile applications.

In addition, the company unveiled the latest release of Workflow Manager, a web-based end-to-end IT process management solution that tracks service-level agreements using out-of-the-box automation for change and asset management. AdminStudio Suite 2016 has added support for preparing Mac applications for reliable deployment to JAMF Software Casper Suite. AppDelete 4.2.6 improves the ‘Undo from Folder’ option

Reggie Ashworth has announced AppDelete 4.2.6 (http://tinyurl.com/ngg3ugq), an update to his application deletion utility for Mac OS X (10.7 and higher).

Via drag and drop, it can uninstall anything, along with all of the associated items. Mac users will no longer have to hunt through their system to find and delete these items manually. Version 4.2.6 improves the “Undo from Folder” option, and includes other fixes and improvements.

Late Night Software launches Script Debugger 6

Late Night Software has released Script Debugger 6 (http://www.latenightsw.com), the latest version of its AppleScript development software.

Counter is new counting utility for Mac OS X

Tension Software (www.tensionsoftware.com) has launched Counter 1.0 for Mac OS X. The app does one thing: it allows to count a discrete number of elements.

Using Counter you can solve any kind of situation where you have to computer enumerate a total number of elements (physical or abstract), and you want to be sure the process will be error free. You can add to the total a new unit simply pressing the space bar on your Mac to count it. Counter will keep track of the counting as it progress and will add +1 to the total at any space bar press.

AKVIS introduces the Sea Frame Pack

AKVIS has introduced the $17 Sea Frame Pack, which includes 100 frame designs for use with AKVIS Frames and AKVIS ArtSuite. The frames include 50 horizontal and 50 vertical templates.

Troi Text Plug-in 4.0.1 released for FileMaker Pro 15

Troi Automatisering has released Troi Text Plug-in 4.0.1 for FileMaker Pro 15. The update is further optimized for use with FileMaker 15.

In this version Troi Automatisering made description and type-ahead information available for all functions of the plug-in. This extra function description will be shown in FileMaker Pro 15 in the Specify Calculation dialog box when you type a function name and also as a text popup in the functions pane on the right. The type-ahead information is used by the auto complete functionality of FileMaker Pro 15.

Avira expands Phantom VPN to iOS, macOS

Avira (www.avira.com) is expanding its Avira Phantom VPN (Virtual Private Network) o include devices running on Apple’s iOS and macOS. The Phantom VPN now incorporates all major operating systems for computers and mobile devices: Android, Microsoft’s Windows, and iOS and Mac.

The new Phantom VPN is aimed directly at two significant segments of technology users – people with Apple devices, and even more importantly, mixed households where people have a collection of devices running on a variety of operating systems, said Melanie Weber, head of the VPN project at Avira. BusyMac releases BusyCal 3 for macOS and iOS

BusyMac has released BusyCal 3, an upgrade to its calendar app for macOS and iOS. It displays calendars in day, week, month, year and list views and syncs with iCloud, Google Calendar and Exchange.

Version 3 has been completely redesigned. There’s added support for travel time, which allows users to block out the necessary time to travel to an event location. WPS Office implements freemium version of software

WPS Office Software (https://www.wps.com), an office productivity suite for PC and mobile devices, has announced general availability of the company’s new Freemium, or sponsored access, version of its flagship product.

WPS Office had previously allowed free use of of the software, but with restricted functionality. With the Freemium model, users now have full access to all of WPS Office’s features and functionality with no subscription needed.
