Epson expands WorkForce printing solutions

Epson America has announced the Epson WorkForce 2600-Series all-in-one printers designed for the home and small office. The WorkForce WF-2660 and WF-2650 leverage Epson’s PreCisionCore printhead technology.

The WorkForce WF-2660, WF-2650 and WF-2630 expand Epson’s existing line of WorkForce printers built for business, and include enhanced connectivity options to make printing from tablets and smartphones easier than ever. The WorkForce WF-2660 supports NFC touch-to-print capabilities, and all printers include wireless and Wi-Fi Direct, which means no router is required for printing and scanning. The WorkForce 2600-Series is also equipped with Epson Connect for the ability to print and scan documents, photos, emails and web pages from a tablet, smartphone or computer from just about anywhere.

New My Passport Wireless wirelessly connects to smartphones,...

WD has unveiled the My Passport Wireless, a Wi-Fi enabled storage drive that allows consumers to save, access and share stored content wirelessly with any smartphone, tablet, computer or other device. Additionally, when users need to transfer large amounts of data, the My Passport Wireless drive provides the option of using a high speed USB 3.0 connection.

The My Passport Wireless drive broadcasts its own wireless network that allows up to eight devices to connect at the same time and access any content stored on the drive. It's available in 500GB, 1TB or 2TB models.

The My Passport Wireless drive is currently available for advance order online at the wdstore.com and will be available at select U.S. retailers later in September. VMware releases VMware Fusion 7 and VMware Fusion 7 Pro

VMware (www.vwmare.com) has released VMware Fusion 7, an update of its desktop virtualization software that's optimized for the latest Mac hardware and software. VMware is also releasing VMware Fusion 7 Pro with state of the art features for advanced users, developers and Macs in businesses.

Vortex for Mac OS X gets streamlined interface, more customizing...

TastyApps (http://www.tastyapps.com) has launched Vortex 1.3, an update to their productivity app for Mac OS X.

With the tool, dozens of Actions for the things you do most are instantly available via drag 'n drop or shortcut keys. PocketCAS for Mac OS X, iOS gets time series plotting

Daniel Alm has released PocketCAS 3.5 (http://pocketcas.com), an update to his mathematics software for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

It's an advanced computer algebra system designed for scientists, engineers, teachers and students. Version 3.5 adds time series plotting, which lets the user see how the graph of a 2D or 3D function evolves over time.

Sample Logic has announced Cinematic Keys (http://tinyurl.com/pxkl9wv), a collection of collection of 850+ traditional and mutilated Instruments and Multis derived entirely from recordings of keyboard instruments. MAXON introduces Cinema 4D Release 16

 Maxon has introduced Cinema 4D Release 16 (R16), the next generation release of the 3D software. In addition to workflow enhancements, Cinema 4D R16 delivers new features including a modeling PolyPen "super tool," a Motion Tracker for integrating 3D content within live footage and a Reflectance material channel for multi-layered reflections and specularity.

Native Instruments announces Komplete 10, Komplete 10 Ultimate

Native Instruments (http://www.native-instruments.com) has announced the next generation of their production suites. Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate come with six brand-new instruments – Rounds, Kontour, Polyplex, and the three new sampled pianos that comprise The Definitive Piano Collection.

Answers released for Mac OS X, Windows

Tim Parnell has introduced Answers for Mac OS X and Windows. It's designed to make creating and organizing help documents simple.

Answers uses a content-based approach to enable users to create documents faster. You can build documents for local software help books, or publish to the web. Answers handles the tricky part of organization and design. By allowing you to focus on your content, not the code, you can create everything from software help books to website FAQs, according to Parnell.

Bundled with Answers are several themes from which to choose. After adding content, select a theme to stylize the help document and prepare it for publishing. At launch Answers includes five themes. Also included is a blank theme specifically for use with the anchor tags output, so the FAQ can be easily dropped into an existing website.

Pagico for Desktop for Mac OS X adds HiDPI support

NOTES17 has announced Pagico for Desktop 6.7 (http://www.pagico.com/), an update to their information and task manager app for Mac OS X. The upgrade adds HiDPI support for computers with high resolution monitors.

ArtRage for Mac OS X gets 64-bit support

ArtRage (www.artrage.com) is shipping now with faster 64-bit support. The upgrade of the painting software for Mac and Windows features a 64-bit engine for speed improvements, larger projects and canvases, and additional features listed below.

Jettison is ready for OS X Yosemite's 'dark mode'

 St. Clair Software has released Jettison 1.4.1 (http://tinyurl.com/kvonedl), an update to their Mac OS X application that automatically ejects external drives before your Mac goes to sleep.

Jettison eliminates the hassle of manually ejecting Time Machine backup drives, network server volumes and flash drives. Just close the lid of your MacBook and Jettison does it for you. Billings Pro for Mac OS X, iOS revved to version 1.8

Marketcircle has unveiled Billings Pro 1.8 (http://www.marketcircle.com/billingspro), an update to its time billing and invoicing solution for Mac OS X and iOS devices.

It's a multi-user time tracking and invoicing application for for multi-user businesses, with a web interface for workers to track time. FabFilter releases FabFilter Pro-Q 2 equalizer plug-in

FabFilter has released FabFilter Pro-Q 2, an update to the Pro-Q equalizer plug-in. It sports new features such as full screen mode, natural phase processing, Aauto gain, spectrum gGrab, Gain-Q interaction, and slope support for all filter types.

For Pro-Q 2, FabFilter has redesigned the internal filter engine from the ground up. It's also boosted by user interface innovations.

Apple officially announces Sept. 9 media event

It's official: Apple is planning a media event on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. (Pacific). The company has sent out invitations to the press dubbed: "9.9.2014. Wish we could say more."

Almost certainly the company will announce the long-rumored iPhone 6, which is expected to be available in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions. Recent rumors have added that Apple will also unveil a smartwatch, the "iWatch," at the event.

New StuffIt Deluxe 16 lets Mac users store, share compressed...

Smith Micro Software has launched StuffIt Deluxe 16 for Mac with Cloud Services integration, a new cloud-based file transfer feature that lets users send large files without the dealing with email attachments or FTP. 

With the new release, more than 16 million StuffIt users can share photos, videos, music and more using cloud storage services, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and SendStuffNow. StuffIt Archive Manager is now more efficient with a new QuickLook search feature; streamlined navigation helps users quickly open, expand, create, verify, and schedule archiving, according to the folks at Smith Micro.
