Cyberpunk 3776 available on Steam
Peter Hann is releasing Cyberpunk 3776 (http://www.cyberpunk3776.com) on the Steam platform with added features. The original release is currently available for Mac OS X and PC systems. Here's how the game is described: "Cyberpunk 3776 is a side-scrolling shooter set in a dystopian future world where you are the last of all of humanity. Avarice and indifference have brought about the end of days and an extraterrestrial force has come to declare war in a showdown to the end. "With gameplay based on the golden-age of arcade shooters, the controls have been simplified and the playthrough streamlined. App Wrapper updated to version 3.5
Ohanaware (www.ohanaware.com) has released App Wrapper 3.3, an update to their App Store preparation tool. It was designed to simplify the process of preparing applications for submission to the Mac App Store and deploying on web sites. App Wrapper features a graphical user interface for adding the required App Store properties, creating high resolution icons, code signing an application, placing an app into a App Sandbox and packaging it in a signed installer or creating a zip file, and more. MakeDongle protects Mac software with a USB dongle
Excel Software has announced MakeDongle 1.0, which runs on Mac OS X, Windows or Linux computers. It generates a secure USB dongle that grants a license to run protected software on the attached computers and complements a suite of protection and licensing tools. Protected software can be stored on the computer or dongle itself. When launched, the dongle is validated before the software is allowed to run. When building dongles, MakeDongle can copy multiple licenses, applications or installers to the USB drive. MakeDongle can be used standalone or with the QuickLicense, AppProtect or DocProtect products.  It also works with licensing plug-ins for FileMaker and Xojo. To use MakeDongle alone, add a programming command to Mac or Windows software. Several coding interfaces are supported with sample code provided for popular programming languages. Mach Software Design announces an iCloud Note Taker
Mach Software Design (http://www.machsoftwaredesign.com) has released Mach Note, an iCloud PDF note taker, audio note taker, and RTF word processor. It's available for both Mac OS X and iOS. Mach Note uses iCloud to keep your documents in sync across all your devices. You can access your files from any device with iCloud Drive. It supports iCloud HandOff/Continuity features so you can transfer files between devices. What's more, you can record audio in M4A format with a 3D visualize and more. Word processing on Mach Note is done in in RTF format. Using the PDF format, Freehand Notes are synced across all your devices (via iCloud) so you always have the latest version of your Notes with you. SCSC releases Scannerz 1.9.9.10 for Mac OS X
Software and Computer System Company (SCSC) has released Scannerz 1.9.9.10 (http://scsc-online.com) for Mac OS X. The Scannerz package is a set of hard drive, SSD, and system analysis tools designed to help users isolate hardware, system, and performance problems. The package consists of Scannerz, Performance Probe 2, Phoenix, and FSE or FSE-lite. Apple releases iPhoto 9.6.1 for Mac OS X
Apple has released iPhoto 9.6.1, which improves compatibility when migrating iPhoto libraries to the new Photos app in Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 — which will be available this spring. It also fixes an issue that caused iPhoto to display only the first 25 images in a Facebook album, as well as an issue that could cause iPhoto to become unresponsive when printing an image. Typinator 6.5 handles smart substitutions even smarter
Ergonis Software (www.ergonis.com) has annnounced Typinator 6.5, a new version of their text expander for Mac OS X. The new version adds a helpful new feature that lets you define the way how the system-wide "smart substitutions" settings for quotes, dashes, etc. are handled within Typinator. French speaking Typinator users will be glad to hear that Typinator now also accepts French quoting style (with double angle quotation marks and non-breaking spaces) in the marker for nested abbreviations. Typinator 6.5 also works around a crash when expanding text in Yosemite's sharing window with the "quick expansion" option enabled. It further improves compatibility with OS X Yosemite and third-party applications. Typinator 6.5 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or newer. Print Window gets full Mac OS X Yosemite support
Searchware Solutions has announced Print Window 5.2, an update to their window printing utility for Mac OS X. Integrated with the Mac OS X Finder, it allows users to print a file listing of folders with a simple key command (or other methods of triggering a file listing). In addition to adding full Mac OS X Yosemite support, version 5.2 adds the ability to export File Listings as a CSV file and sports an updated application icon. Users have complete control over what gets included in the file listings and what does not. Print Window can also print subfolder contents of a specified folder manually selected by the user. Print Window also allows complete autonomy in the sorting process. Twelve South (www.twelvesouth.com) has introduced a new accessory for the Apple MacBook: the US$39.99 BaseLift, an "utra-thin" folding pad and stand. Tumult has rolled out Hype 3.0 and Hype Professional, a major update to its HTML5 animation builder for OS X. Hype supports the latest HTML5/CSS3 features and uses a keyframe-based animation system with a recorder to create motions and transitions. Digital Film Tools launches EZ Mask 3.0
Digital Film Tools, developer of visual effects software, has launched EZ Mask 3.0 (http://tinyurl.com/yn2dds). It's an update of the interactive image masking tool capable of extracting almost any object in an image. Version 3.0 adds support for Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. EZ Mask iteratively estimates the transparency value for every pixel in the image based on a few strokes. There's even a Refine mode where EZ Mask automatically updates the mask or composite as you paint a stroke. In addition, color correction, image transformations, and color contamination removal can all be employed. EZ Mask 3.0 is available now for US$150. New Microsoft Accreditation program for Apple techs
MacTech, which publishes MacTech Magazine as well as produces live events such as MacTech Pro and MacTech Conference, has announced that Microsoft's "Microsoft Office for Mac and iOS Accredited Support Professional" accreditation program has been updated for Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac. Limefuel announces USB-C portable battery charger
Limefuel (www.limefuel.com) has announced a charger specifically designed around the USB-C technology in Apple's new MacBook. The 24,000mAh device is designed to keep the laptop going all day long. The Limefuel charger will feature two Type C ports and four USB ports for charging other mobile devices. Limefuel's new Macbook charger also features pass-through technology allowing multiple devices to charge at the same time.  The charger will be available in the second quarter of 2015 through Kickstarter at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of US$149.99.

KeyBank expands digital banking with Apple Pay
Starting March 17, KeyBank (www.Key.com) customers will be able to use Apple Pay to make secure payments at more than 700,000 businesses across the United States and select iOS apps. "We're thrilled to add Apple Pay to the fast-growing range of digital banking services we offer banking customers," says Matthew D. Lehman, senior vice president and head of digital banking. Using their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus mobile devices running iOS 8.1 or later, KeyBank customers can use Apple Pay, a mobile payments solution, to  complete credit or debit card transactions without revealing their card information. Paragon Camptune X now resizes Boot Camp partitions
Paragon Software Group (PSG) has released Paragon Camptune X with Core Storage technology support, a tweaked interface based on Mac OS X elements, and the ability to identify and automatically fix an unsynchronized partition layout or any file system errors.   Camptune X solves the maintenance problem that Mac Boot Camp users encounter when they run out of free partition space. Tablet growth slowing to single digits in the coming years
Following the first year-over-year decline in worldwide tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of 2014 (4Q14), the IDC research group (www.idc.com) has scaled back its five year forecast for the product category. Worldwide shipments are expected to reach 234.5 million units in 2015, a modest year-over-year increase of 2.1% from 2014. Although the outlook has been tempered, IDC still expects low but positive growth for the market in the years to come as demand in the commercial sector increases, and as Microsoft slowly gains a foothold. You can now use your Flint app for the iPhone to process American Express and Discover card payments in addition to Visa and MasterCard. The free app lets you accept credit card payments on your Apple smartphone. The transaction fees to process AMEX and Discover cards are the same as Visa and Mastercard. Plus, accepting all major credit types brings you more flexibility and sales. Per transaction fees are 1.95% for debit cards and 2.95% for credit cards, same for card scan, manual entry, invoices or online payments. Micromat revamps Techtool Pro 8 for Mac OS X
Micromat (www.micromat.com) has announced a new version of Techtool Pro. The company calls the new version Techtool Pro 8 and says the new version offers a number of significant new features. "Techtool Pro 8 is a major leap forward compared to our prior versions," says Jeff Baudin, president of Micromat. "Version 8 brings us to the level of ASD (Apple Service Diagnostics). Added with Techtool's legacy battery of tests and repair functions, it takes us quite a bit further."  Of the new features included in version 8, he says the most significant is the component tests. Depending on the model of Macintosh, it can now check up to 150 new components, sensors and voltage levels "of which we previously could not test," Baudin says. Marriott International will become the first global hospitality company to offer Apple Pay. The phased introduction this summer in the U.S. will include brands in locations, such as The Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, Renaissance Hotels, and Marriott Hotels. Guests using Apple Pay at check-in will simply bring their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch near the contactless reader at the front desk.
