MoneyWiz 2.2 adds 3D Touch and is iPad Pro ready

SilverWiz has conjured ups MoneyWiz 2.2 (http://moneywizapp.com), an update of the money manager for iOS and Mac OS X.

The app offers reports, worldwide online banking and instant sync between all your devices. For iOS, MoneyWiz 2.2 adds support for 3D Touch, iPad Pro, and iPad Split Screen.

Eltima releases newest version of Commander One, an OS X file...

Eltima Software has launched Commander One 1.2, the latest version of their dual-pane file manager for OS X.

Apart from basic file management operations, the app features a built-in FTP client, integrating Dropbox accounts and accessing data on iOS and Android devices, supports multiple archive formats, and more. Version 1.2 migrates to Swift 2.0 and is compatible with El Capitan.

Commander One 1.2 is compatible with OS X 10.9 and higher. The app is available in two editions - free and paid. The latter is known as Pro Pack and costs $29.95. Both editions are available for download from Eltima's website (http://commander-one.tumblr.com/).

Local sellers accepting mobile payments with Square's new...

Starting today, 100 local business owners across the country are the first to accept chip cards and payments like Apple Pay from their customers with Square's new reader, giving their customers a simple, fast, and secure payment experience.

The first group of businesses to use Square's new reader include Honey Butter Fried Chicken in Chicago, Philz Coffee in San Francisco, Sump Coffee in St. Louis, Cafe Grumpy in New York City, and all 20+ merchants in the Urbanspace Vanderbilt food hall in New York.

AKVIS releases NatureArt 8.0: Aurora Borealis Effect

AKVIS has released AKVIS NatureArt 8.0, for Mac OS X and Windows. It’s a collection of nature effects for images. Version 8.0 adds the new Aurora effect.

NatureArt 8.0 now includes 10 basic effects: rain, sun, water, lightning, clouds, frost, rainbow, aurora, fire, and ice. Each has a number of presets for creating a variety of natural phenomena.

A demo of NatureArt 8.0 is available for download at the AKVIS website (www.akvis.com). On the Mac platform, it requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher. The product is available as a standalone application and as a plugin filter for Adobe Photoshop and other image editors.

A home license sells for US$72. Version 8.0 is a free upgrade for recent buyers. Users whose license is not valid for the new version can get NatureArt 8.0 with the Aurora effect for $14.95.

Aura, the Mac app for Gmail, is updated for El Capitan

Crosscoded has announced Aura 1.2.0, an update to the Mac app for Gmail. Aura is the “missing link” between a web app and a native client for Gmail users, with support for up to six accounts, global hotkeys, native notifications, selective notifications for important messages and per-account unread message counts in your menubar.

Version 1.2.0 adds support for Mac OS X El Capitan. It also now gives users global hotkeys for creating new e-mails, open e-mail links in your default e-mail account and more.

Path Finder upgrade adds Saved Searches

Cocoatech has announced Path Finder 7.3, a free update of their file browser for Mac OS X. The update includes a long requested feature: Saved Searches.

Path Finder allows you to view hidden files, compare, merge and synchronize folders, batch rename and batch select files, use Dual Pane and full keyboard navigation to browse your file system and more. With version 7.3, you can save search results and criteria as smart folder. It also has improved discovery of SMB/CIFS shares/volumes in the local network, as well as performance and stability tweaks.

Candy Apple update for Mac OS X fixes printing issue

128bit Technologies has served up Candy Apple 1.8, an update to their vector based graphic design and illustration app for Mac OS X.

Apple Pay now available to merchants on the GlobalOnePay platform

GlobalOnePay, a provider of omni-channel payment processing technologies and merchant services, now supports Apple Pay. GlobalOnePay merchants will now have another payment method in Canada to offer buyers.

The GlobalOnePay payments processing platform is already accepting Apple Pay in the United States and United Kingdom, where the mobile payment service was already operating. To begin accepting Apple Pay, Canadian GlobalOnePay merchants just need to show buyers that Apple Pay is now an accepted form of payment for American Express cardholders in-store or within apps.  Apple Pay transaction processing has been built into the GlobalOnePay payment gateway and requires no additional software development or integration between the merchant and GlobalOnePay.

Tropical Software releases TopXNotes 1.8 for Mac OS X

Tropical Software has announced TopXNotes 1.8.1, an update to their note taking app developed exclusively for Mac OS X. It’s been optimized for Mac OS X El Capitan.

It’s a personal information manager that lets you create, view, organize, and instantly access your Mac notes with TopXNotes. Version 1.8.1 offers performance enhancements and bug fixes. TopXNotes 1.8.1 keeps your notes synchronized between TopXNotes for Mac and TopXNotes for iOS.

TopXNotes 1.8.1 adds a new Devices Preference to edit the Synced Devices Table. Editing allows the freeing-up of sync slots allocated to devices that are no longer needs to sync with — such as iPhones you no longer own. Maintain serves up Cocktail 9.0.1 (El Capitan Edition)

Maintain has announced Cocktail 9.1.1 (El Capitan Edition), the latest maintenance update for users running OS X El Capitan 10.11.

Cocktail is a general purpose utility for OS X that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. This version adds the ability to delete locked or inaccessible items using SRM secure delete. It also includes improvements on the "Purge inactive memory" procedure and a number of bug fixes.

Intuit launches Quicken 2016 for Mac, Windows

Intuit has released Quicken 2016 for Mac and Windows users. The Mac version includes integrated bill pay that lets users pay their bills, transfer money between accounts, see what bills have been paid, and which are coming or are past due so they can manage cash flow.

The Quicken product line for 2016 is available now at Quicken.com and at select retailers. It’s available in a variety of configurations with pricing ranging from $39.99 to $164.99.

CalDigit releases new USB-C docks, accessories

CalDigit (www.caldigit.com) revealed two new USB Type-C docks at Inter BEE 2015 in Japan. The first is the CalDigit USB-C Dock, and the second is the CalDigit USB-C mini Dock.

Both of these products feature USB 3.1 as well as a host of additional ports to expand USB-C enabled computers such as the 12-inch MacBook.

CalDigit is also announcing two new USB-C adapters. The US$149 CalDigit USB-C Dock (pictured) not only adds extra ports but also simultaneously charges the MacBook. The $99 CalDigit USB-C mini Dock takes the features of the CalDigit USB-C Dock and packs them into a smaller form-factor. The main difference between the CalDigit USB-C Dock and CalDigit USB-C mini Dock is that the USB-C Dock connects to AC mains power, whereas the CalDigit mini Dock draws its power from the computer.

Synology announces DiskStation DS716+ NAS server for growing...

Synology (www.synology.com) has released the DS716+, an encryption-oriented, scalable, two-bay NAS server powered by a quad-core CPU and Btrfs file system. DS716+ is aimed at SMB in need of a reliable, high-efficient storage and application server, according to Franklin Hua, product manager at Sinology.

It comes with 2GB of RAM, two Gigabit LAN ports, and a quad-core 1.6GHz CPU and can clock up to 2.08GHz and AES-NI encryption support. The DS716+ delivers transfer speed up to 218Mb/s reading and 141Mb/s writing. In addition, it allows enthusiast users to perform on the fly H.264 4K to 1080p video transcoding.

New fonts added to the Free Fonts-Christmas Collection

CoreMelt gives FCP X users tracked masking tools for free

CoreMelt has announced its SliceX Free product for Final Cut Pro X. It lets you create instant Shape Masks to cut out layers or isolate effects directly in Final Cut Pro X without having to go into Motion or create the masks with an external program.

FCP X editors can now use a version limited to tracking oval and rectangle shapes in their projects freely with no purchase necessary. You can use SliceX Free to: blur a license plate or a log to hide it, or a persons face; color correct a tracked oval section (e.g. a face or other area of interest); remove unwanted objects from frame by cloning areas of the image; or track a glow to a person’s eyes.
