TeamViewer launches TeamViewer 9
TeamViewer, a provider of remote control and online meeting software, has launched TeamViewer 9 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux systems. It's an update of the software for access of remote computers over the Internet. The latest version includes Wake-on-LAN, which allows users to turn on remote computers over the internet from their current device whether using a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. The wake feature works via a router, or via another computer within the local network. Additionally, TeamViewer 9 includes Service Queue. This feature provides IT support teams with the ability to manage, share and assign support requests within their team for instant customer support. Users can now also join remote support sessions simply by using a unique session code without the need to exchange an ID and password.    TeamView is free for private user. ProgCAD introduces iCADMac 2014

WD introduces SSD+HDD dual drive
WD has released the WD Black dual drive, a storage solution innovation that fuses a 2.5-inch 120 GB solid state drive (SSD) with a 1TB hard disk drive (HDD) to offer a dual drive solution. It’s not yet Mac compatible, but this is planned for a later date, accord ing to WD. Apple updates Pages, Numbers, Keynote for OS X, iOS
Apple has updated the Mac versions of its iWork apps—Pages, Numbers, and Keynote —to version 5.0.1, 3.0.1, and 6.0.1, respectively. The company has also updated the iOS versions of the productivity tools. The upgrades for the Mac versions of the software restore some of the features left out of the recent revamping of the apps. Among them are the ability to customize your toolbar. Also, the Keynote update restores some missing transitions and other effects. The updates are available at the Mac App Store. Easy Markdown optimized for OS X Mavericks
Tension Software (www.tensionsoftware.com) has updated Easy Markdown, an app that lets you create web pages without coding, to version 1.2. The new version is optimized for Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Text written in Markdown is a plain text, which looks correctly to humans as text and automatically translates in a correctly web pages coded in HTML, according to the folks at Tension Software. Jury gives more of Samsung's money to Apple in retrial
The jury has reached a verdict in a retrial to determine what additional damages Samsung owes Apple, ruling the Korean company must pay US$290,456,793 more to its rival, reports "CNET" (http://tinyurl.com/nm4z7xq). That brings Apple's total award to about $900 million.The amount is close to the $380 million more Apple requested but much higher than the $52 million Samsung said it owed. Last year a jury last year ruled that Samsung had infringed on five Apple patents related to the iPhone's design and functionality. Earlier this year a judge vacated about $450 million of the original award and ordered a new jury to convene to recalculate the damages for patent infringement. Along with the newly awarded money, Samsung also is on the hook for about $600 million in damages from the first trial.

Bryston introduces the BUC-1 Digital to Digital Converter
Bryston has introduced the BUC-1, a special purpose digital to digital converter that enables music enthusiasts to use their computer as a high resolution music source even though their existing Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) doesn't feature asynchronous USB capability. The converter allows for native 24 bit resolution at sampling rates up to 192 kHz. The BUC-1 takes a standard USB output from the computer and delivers bit-perfect data via either an AES/EBU or S/PDIF output to any DAC, says Bryston’s James Tanner. “   The BUC-1 differentiates itself from competitive USB solutions in several critical ways including a "robust linear" power supply design, he adds. Samsung denied mistral in legal battle with Apple
Samsung requested a mistrial be declared in its trial with Apple over remarks made by an attorney working for Apple in the final moments of closing arguments in the case on Tuesday. However, U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh denied the request. Samsung attorney Bill Price said that Apple's lawyer, Harold McElhinny, tried to use racial bias in his closing remarks. McElhinny said that U.S. TV manufacturers of the past failed to protect their intellectual property and "there are no more American TV manufacturers today," reports the "IDG News Service." Price said that he was trying to prejudice the jury against Asian manufacturers. Mac OS X gets new file transfer tool with Infinit
Infinit is a new, free Mac OS X file transfer app that enables users to transfer files unlimited in size. It's currently in beta form. Since a beta product is an unfinished product, use with care. Closing and opening your computer doesn’t cancel the transfer with Infinit. As soon as the Internet connection returns, the transfer continues. Files are encrypted so that only the sender and recipient can access them. To use you drag and drop a file, type a name and hit "send." Google to pay $17 million in web tracking lawsuit
Google will pay $17 million to settle allegations by 37 states and the District of Colombia that it secretly tracked Web users by placing special digital files on the Web browsers of their smartphones, reports "Reuters" (http://tinyurl.com/llsrj97). The deal settles a probe by the states into allegations that Google Google bypassed the privacy settings of customers using Apple's Safari Web browser by placing "cookies" into the browser. Researchers at Stanford University said Google programmers developed codes that allowed them to avoid privacy settings created by Apple. "Google’s willful and knowing actions violated" federal wiretapping laws and other computer-related statutes, attorneys for Matthew Soble said in the complaint.

Apple now allowing customers to trade in water damaged devices
Apple is now allowing customers to trade in devices that have been exposed to water or other liquids, though prices can be affected by over $100 in some cases, reports "AppleInsider" (http://tinyurl.com/lrud6jg). For its Reuse and Recycling Program, Apple has partnered with PowerON to buy used iPhones, iPads and Macs, as well as other non-Apple products. Until the recent policy revision, however, devices with liquid damage were not accepted. Apple has lifted that restriction, "though signs of liquid contact can substantially detract from a device's value," notes "AppleInsider."
