Maintain Serves Up Cocktail 9.3.3 (El Capitan Edition)

Maintain has served up Cocktail 9.3.3 (El Capitan Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running OS X El Capitan 10.11.

Cocktail is a general purpose utility for OS X that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. Version 9.3.3 is a maintenance release with various bug fixes and enhancements.

Cocktail 9.3.3 (El Capitan Edition) requires OS X El Capitan 10.11 to run. Cocktail (Yosemite Edition) for OS X 10.10, Cocktail (Mavericks Edition) for OS X 10.9, Cocktail (Mountain Lion Edition) for OS X 10.8 and Cocktail (Lion Edition) for OS X 10.7 are available for download from the Maintain website (http://tinyurl.com/p5adypq).

MailButler for Mac OS X adds a 'Snooze' feature

MailButler, the Apple Mail assistant by Feingeist Software G(https://www.feingeist.io/), has added a new feature: ”Snooze,” which allows users to better control their inbox by temporarily making selected emails disappear for a scheduled amount of time.

MailButler allows you to schedule an email to be sent at a specific date and time. For example, you can compose birthday emails ahead of the actual date. You just define the exact date when you want to send the email, and MailButler takes care of the rest.

MailButler also allows you to convert your emails into notes. This includes formatting, file attachments, tags, reminder date and other meta information. Notes contain a direct reference to the source email from which it was created.

DEVONtechnologies has enhanced all editions of its intelligent information and document manager with a completely rewritten synchronization. The new system is build for speed, robustness and flexibility.

JMR unveils SiloStor NVMe Solid State Drive Plug-in Card

JMR Electronics (http://www.jmr.com) has announced the general availability of their latest SSD plug-in offering, SiloStor.

It’s a NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) SSD plug-in card that’s a full-length, half-height PCIe 3.0 x8 drive that adds 2TB or more of high-availability, high performance solid stage storage to any server, computer or work station using the latest flash NAND technology. The card occupies a x8 PCIe slot and can also be connected via Thunderbolt PCIe expansion to those computers offering this capability.

In addition, the plug-in card is designed for long-life and touts an MTBF of 1.5 million hours and an endurance rating of 200 Terabytes Written (TBW). ADATA (www.adata.com) has unveiled the SE730, SC660, and SV620 external SSDs. They’re Mac and Windows compatible are designed for use in notebooks, ultrabooks, desktops, and even media boxes and game consoles.

ADATA says the SE730 is the “most compact USB Type-C external SSD in the world.” It offers read/write performance up to 500MB/s and has a reversible USB Type-C connector.

Solar Fusion rolls out Plumeria Smart Creator 3 for Mac

Avira launches Mac Antivirus Pro

Avira, a security software company, has launched Mac Antivirus Pro, a channel-optimized version of its AV security software for OS X devices.

Avira’s Mac Antivirus Pro was designed for channel resellers to serve business customers with mixed-OS environments. The new Pro version features simplified cross-platform software installation and a new product licensing model that allows resellers to use the same paid license across any combination of OS X and Windows devices, according to Anja Zimmermann, director of Global Channel Sales at Avira.

Avira Mac Antivirus Pro is compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite or higher. It’s available through Avira’s partner network and on Avira.com for $44.99 for a one-year license.

PopChar for OS X adds support for Unicode 9.0

Ergonis Software has announced PopChar X 7.6, an improved version of the tool for finding and inserting special characters and exploring fonts.

With PopChar, thousands of special characters are only a few clicks away. Version 7.6 .6 supports Unicode 9.0, the most recent major update to the Unicode Standard. Sound Control is new sound volume mixer for the Mac

Static Z Software has released Sound Control, a sound volume mixer for the Mac. It enables users to quickly change app volumes, as well as selectively apply a system-wide EQ to app audio.

Sound Control does this by adding a software mixer to the menu bar of your Mac. App Wrapper 3.6 for OS X updates legacy frameworks

Ohanaware has released App Wrapper 3.6, an update to their App Store preparation tool. It was designed to simplify the process of preparing applications for submission to the Mac App Store and deploying on web sites.

Apple releases OS X 10.11.6, iOS 9.3.3, tvOS 9.2.2, watchOS 2.2.2

Apple has released finished (that is, non-beta) versions of OS X 10.11.6, iOS 9.3.3, tvOS 9.2.2, and watchOS 2.2.2. All are basically maintenance releases with bug fixes and performance tweaks.

You can grab OS X 10.11.6 at the Updates section of the Mac App Store. iOS 9.3.3 can be downloaded as an over-the-air update or via iTunes. watchOS 2.2.2 can be downloaded and installed through the Apple Watch app on an iPhone. tvOS can be downloaded through the System section of the Settings app on an Apple TV.

Apple has released a plethora of new betas to developers for testing purposes. They include new betas of macOS Sierra, iOS 10, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10. They can downloaded from the Apple Developer Center.
